About The Instructor

"Her (Mrs. Hadfield) wide-ranging interests means that she has a very good sense for how things fit together, and why what she's teaching is important to know. She does a good job of conveying that sense of importance and integration to her students."

Hi, I’m Heather!

I have been teaching for 35 years and I love it!  I graduated from the University of Washington in 1986 with my BA in Elementary Education K-8, and Mathematics grades 4-12.

Over the years I have taught in public school, homeschooled our 4 kids, taught at Christian programs, had science clubs in our home, taught at parent partnership programs and private schools and now, out of my own home!

I have been called a math nerd before and it was fitting. I had a student tell me, “If things around me aren't making sense, I know one thing - Math Makes Sense”. That is what I love about math! I believe that science makes sense in the same way. I love talking math and science with kids. We all learn so much from each other, we can inspire each other, and I try to get my students to enjoy it along the way. Math phobia is very prevalent and I love helping kids turn that around.  I had the opportunity to teach one young lady math for 5 years and she would smile and say she's not afraid anymore!

I look forward to meeting you and working with your students.

Thank You,

Heather Hadfield
